How to Connect CallRail to ChatGPT with CorpusIQ MCP

Calls are the part of marketing that spreadsheets miss. A form fill lands in a CRM with a campaign attached. A phone call lands in a call tracker with a tracking number, a duration and a source, and the story stops there unless somebody joins it back to the campaign by hand. Connecting CallRail to ChatGPT through CorpusIQ MCP makes the call record queryable. You authorize read-only access once, ask which campaigns produced calls and how those calls went, and get an answer with the account, the window and the source attached.

Direct MCP retrieval is read-only and does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads; operational query logs are retained for up to 30 days.

What Questions Can You Ask?

  • "How many calls came in last month, and how long did they last on average?"
  • "Which tracking numbers received the most calls this quarter?"
  • "Which source sent the most calls, and did that change week over week?"
  • "Which companies under this account are generating calls and which are quiet?"
  • "Show me the calls from the campaign I spent the most on."
  • "Do the calls arrive at the same time as the ad clicks, or later?"

The last question is the one that changes budgets. Call timing against spend timing tells you whether the phone is an impulse channel or a considered one.

FAQ: Common Questions

What does the connector expose? Five read actions: the accounts the connection can reach, a single account summary with its features, the companies (tracked businesses) under an account, the tracking numbers configured under an account, and the calls themselves with tracking number, duration, start time, source and caller data. Every read after the account list is scoped to one account, so the first call is always the account lookup.
Is this read-only? Yes. The connector lists accounts, companies, trackers and calls. It does not create, tag, edit or delete anything in CallRail. Write access is not exposed at all, not merely hidden behind a confirmation step.
Does it return transcripts, form submissions or lead scores? No. The call record is what it returns: who called, on which tracking number, from which source, when, and for how long. Anything CallRail computes beyond that record, such as transcription, form capture or scoring, is not part of this connector's payload. Ask for what the record holds rather than assuming the rest is available.
How do I get true call attribution? Join the call record to the ad or analytics record. The tracking number and the call source are the join keys, so with [Google Ads](connect-google-ads-to-chatgpt.md) or [Google Analytics](connect-google-analytics-to-chatgpt.md) connected on the same MCP server, "which campaign drove calls, and which of those calls lasted over two minutes" is one question across two connectors. Attribution you can defend means showing the join, not asserting the conclusion.
Does it work across several accounts or several clients? Each CorpusIQ user authorizes their own CallRail access, and the account list read returns every account that connection can reach. An agency can hold several clients under one authorization and ask per-account questions without reconnecting. Revoking the connection in CallRail ends the connector's reach immediately.
What should I check before trusting a call number? Check the window and the account, then check the tracking numbers. A call that arrived on a shared or untracked number carries the wrong source, and a report that silently mixes numbers will look complete while being wrong. The connector returns the tracking number for exactly this reason: it lets the answer be audited.
Where is my data stored? It is not. Retrieval happens on demand against the live CallRail API. CorpusIQ does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational query logs may persist for up to 30 days. See our [security documentation](../security/) for the detail.

How It Works

  1. You sign in to CorpusIQ and connect CallRail.
  2. CallRail shows its consent screen. You approve read access for the account.
  3. You add the CorpusIQ MCP server to ChatGPT. See the Quick Start guide.
  4. ChatGPT discovers the CallRail tools and calls them when a question needs call data.
  5. Every answer cites the account, the window and the fields used to build the number.

Setup Guide

  1. Sign up at corpusiq.io - the 30-day trial needs no credit card.
  2. Connect CallRail. Dashboard, Connections, CallRail, then approve read access.
  3. Connect ChatGPT. Add the CorpusIQ MCP server per the Quick Start guide.
  4. Verify. Ask "What accounts do I have?" then "How many calls came in last week?" and check both against the CallRail dashboard.
  5. Explore. Then ask the question the dashboard cannot answer: which source produced the calls worth answering.
