How to Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to ChatGPT with CorpusIQ MCP

Bing Webmaster Tools holds a second set of numbers about the same site, and almost nobody reads it. The console reports impressions and clicks over time, the queries that produced them, which URLs are actually in the index, how the crawler behaved, and how many inbound links each page has. Reading it means four different screens and a date picker. Connecting Bing Webmaster Tools to ChatGPT through CorpusIQ MCP turns those screens into questions. You authorize read-only access once, ask in plain English, and the answer arrives with the site, the date range and the source attached.

Direct MCP retrieval is read-only and does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads; operational query logs are retained for up to 30 days.

What Questions Can You Ask?

  • "How many impressions and clicks did the site get from Bing last month?"
  • "Which queries bring impressions with an average position worse than 10?"
  • "Is /pricing in the Bing index, and when was it last crawled?"
  • "How many pages did Bing crawl last week, and did any return an error?"
  • "Which pages carry the most inbound links?"
  • "Compare Bing clicks and Google clicks for the same month."

The last one is the reason this connector exists. A site is rarely visible in the same way on both indexes, and the difference is usually a technical problem, not a content problem.

FAQ: Common Questions

Which sites can I connect? The connector lists every site the authorized Microsoft account has verified in Bing Webmaster Tools, and the other reads are scoped to one of those verified site URLs. Call the site list first, pick the exact URL, then ask your question against it. A site that is not verified under that account will not appear.
What does the traffic data actually contain? A daily time series of impressions and clicks for the verified site, plus totals over the requested window. Queries come back separately, with average impression position and average click position per query. Position in Bing is an average across impressions, so a single query can look healthy in aggregate and still rank badly on the terms that convert.
Can I see crawl problems, not just traffic? Yes, and it is the part most people never look at. The crawl statistics read returns crawled pages, the in-index count, inbound links, crawl errors and the status codes the crawler received over time. A page that dropped out of the index usually shows up here before it shows up anywhere else.
Does it read a single page or the whole site? Both. Site-level reads cover rank and traffic, queries, crawl history and link counts. The per-URL read covers one page at a time: clicks, impressions, indexed status and last-crawled date. Use the page read when you want to know whether one specific URL is being treated properly.
Is this read-only? Yes. The connector reads Bing Webmaster data. It does not submit sitemaps, change verification, alter crawl settings or edit anything in the account. Write-capable management tools, where they exist in the product, are separately named and annotated.
How is this different from a Bing Webmaster export? An export gives you the dimension you chose before you knew what you were looking for. A live MCP query picks the dimension from the question, and a follow-up changes the window without rebuilding the table. See [MCP vs API Integrations](mcp-vs-api-integrations.md) for why that difference matters at the operating level.
Can I combine it with Google Search Console? Connect both. The two connectors answer the same shape of question against two different indexes, so "where is Bing losing clicks that Google keeps" becomes one question with two sources instead of two exports and a manual comparison. Start with [Connect Google Search Console to ChatGPT](connect-google-search-console-to-chatgpt.md).
Where is my data stored? It is not. Retrieval happens on demand against the live Bing Webmaster API. CorpusIQ does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational query logs may persist for up to 30 days. See our [security documentation](../security/) for the detail.

How It Works

  1. You sign in to CorpusIQ and connect Bing Webmaster Tools.
  2. Microsoft shows its consent screen. You approve read access for the account that holds the verified sites.
  3. You add the CorpusIQ MCP server to ChatGPT. See the Quick Start guide.
  4. ChatGPT discovers the Bing Webmaster tools and calls them when a question needs Bing data.
  5. Every answer cites the verified site, the date range and the dimension used.

Setup Guide

  1. Sign up at corpusiq.io - the 30-day trial needs no credit card.
  2. Connect Bing Webmaster Tools. Dashboard, Connections, Bing Webmaster Tools, then approve with the Microsoft account that owns the verified sites.
  3. Connect ChatGPT. Add the CorpusIQ MCP server per the Quick Start guide.
  4. Verify. Ask "How many clicks did the site get from Bing last month?" and check the answer against the Bing Webmaster console.
  5. Explore. Then ask the question that actually matters: which pages are missing from the index, and what is close to the top ten.
