How to Connect Monday.com to Claude with CorpusIQ MCP¶
Monday.com answers "what is the state of the work" only if someone opens the board and reads it. The status someone sets on Tuesday is stale by Thursday, and the groups, columns, and updates that explain why live in a view nobody has open. Connecting Monday.com to Claude through CorpusIQ MCP turns the board into a question you can ask: which items are blocked, who owns what, what slipped this week.
Direct MCP retrieval is read-only and does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational query logs are retained for up to 30 days.
What Questions Can You Ask?¶
- "Which items on the Q1 roadmap board are overdue?"
- "Show me everything assigned to one person this week."
- "Which projects have been stuck in the same status for more than 14 days?"
- "Summarize the state of the product board for a Monday standup."
- "How many items moved to Done last month, by group?"
Why Connect Monday.com to Claude?¶
Boards hold the operational truth: owners, dates, statuses, and the grouping that shows how work is really organized. Reading that truth is manual. Every stakeholder question turns into a filter, a scroll, and a screenshot.
Claude makes the board conversational:
- Blocked work, surfaced. "Which items are blocked or have no owner?" is one sentence instead of a filter set nobody remembers.
- Ownership questions answered. "What is on my plate this week?" without exporting a view.
- Slippage, measured. Compare status movement over time instead of trusting a gut feeling.
- Cross-source reporting. Put project status beside revenue, spend, or pipeline from other connected tools, in one answer.
- Briefings on demand. A weekly summary per board, generated from live data rather than a copied dashboard.
How the Integration Works¶
- Connect Monday.com in CorpusIQ and authorize read access through OAuth.
- Add CorpusIQ to Claude as a custom MCP connector. See the Quick Start guide.
- Ask. Claude selects the Monday.com tools when a question needs board data, and states which boards and columns it read.
- Verify. Every answer is grounded in the live board, so the number matches what you see in Monday.com when you open it.
Read-only is enforced by scope. CorpusIQ never changes statuses, assigns items, edits boards, or creates updates.
Setup Steps¶
- Sign up at corpusiq.io. The 30-day trial needs no credit card.
- Open Connectors in your CorpusIQ dashboard and select Monday.com.
- Click Connect, sign in to Monday.com, and approve the consent screen. The tile changes from gray to green.
- Copy the MCP config block shown under Settings, Integrations, Claude Desktop.
- Open Claude Desktop, then Settings, Developer, Edit Config. This opens
claude_desktop_config.json. - Add the CorpusIQ entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"corpusiq": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y", "mcp-remote",
"https://www.corpusiq.io/mcp/direct-connection"
]
}
}
}
- Save the file and fully quit Claude Desktop. Not just the window: quit the application.
- Reopen Claude and complete the device login when prompted. The tools indicator appears next to the message box.
- Verify the data. Ask "Which items are overdue right now?" and check the answer against the board.
If the tools indicator does not appear, work through Claude can't see CorpusIQ before changing anything else.
Example Claude Queries¶
Project status: - "Which boards changed the most in the last seven days?" - "Summarize the current state of the implementation board by group." - "Which items have no owner assigned?"
Team load: - "What is assigned to each person on my team this week?" - "Who has the most open items in the design group?" - "Show me items with a due date in the next three days."
Executive reporting: - "Rank projects by number of overdue items." - "Which goals are at risk based on item status?" - "Give me a one-page status summary for the leadership meeting."
Combined with other sources: - "Which client projects are behind, and what did those clients bill last quarter?" (requires an accounting connector) - "Match delivery delays to support ticket volume." (requires a support connector)
Comparison: MCP vs. Manual Board Reading¶
| Aspect | CorpusIQ MCP | Board UI |
|---|---|---|
| Answering a cross-board question | One question | Multiple filters, boards, and tabs |
| Recency | Live read at question time | Live, but only if someone looks |
| Follow-up question | One sentence | New filter set |
| Cross-source joins | Built in with other connected tools | Manual spreadsheet work |
| Setup | Under 5 minutes, no code | No setup, recurring manual work |
Security¶
- Read-only by scope. The connector requests read access to workspaces, boards, columns, groups, and items. Write-capable tools, where present, are separately named and annotated.
- No stored payloads. Direct MCP retrieval does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational logs keep query text, per-user tool-call metadata, and bounded outcome summaries for up to 30 days.
- Access follows the authorizing account. Revoking that account's access in Monday.com ends the connector's reach immediately.
- Disconnect behavior. A CorpusIQ disconnect requires reauthorization before reuse. Provider authorization remains governed by Monday.com.
FAQ: Common Questions¶
Can Claude change item statuses or assign people?
No. The integration is read-only. Claude can read boards and report on them, and it cannot change a status, assign an owner, or edit a board.Which boards can I read?
The boards your authorizing Monday.com user can see. If a board does not appear, confirm that user has at least view access to it in Monday.com.Does it read subitems, updates, and column values?
Yes. Board structure, groups, items, and item details including status, owners, dates, and column values are readable. Updates are text and are read as content, not modified.Can I connect more than one Monday.com account?
Each CorpusIQ user authorizes their own account. Teams that work across more than one workspace typically authorize the account that can see the boards that matter, or use separate users for separate workspaces.How current is the data?
Every question triggers a fresh read against the live API. There is no nightly sync and no cached copy of your board.Related Pages¶
