Confluent MCP - Apache Kafka for AI Agents¶
What It Is¶
Confluent MCP exposes Apache Kafka data streaming capabilities over the Model Context Protocol. AI agents can manage topics, monitor consumer groups, interact with Schema Registry, and oversee Connect pipelines - making Kafka's event-driven infrastructure accessible through natural language.
Tools Available¶
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
| Topic management | List, create, describe, and configure Kafka topics |
| Consumer group monitoring | Track offsets, lag, and member status |
| Schema Registry | Manage Avro/Protobuf/JSON schemas |
| Connect management | Monitor and manage Kafka Connect connectors |
Quick Start¶
npx -y @confluentinc/mcp-confluent
Business Use Cases¶
- Monitor data pipeline health: "Show consumer lag across all production topics"
- Topic inventory: "List all Kafka topics and their partition counts"
- Schema lookup: "What's the latest schema version for the orders topic?"
Integration with CorpusIQ¶
CorpusIQ is the connector layer that lets AI assistants read the systems a business already runs on - accounting, payments, CRM, email, files and analytics - and answer with the source named. It is read-only by design: it retrieves data and never writes to, or acts in, a connected system, which is what makes it safe to point at live accounts.
This page is part of the CorpusIQ directory, the reference we maintain for the MCP server and agent-skill ecosystem. Run alongside CorpusIQ, a third-party server like this one can be combined with a company's own business data in a single answer.
Limitations¶
- Confluent Cloud or self-managed Kafka cluster required. Read-heavy; topic creation possible with elevated permissions.
